Giving good face

Do you think Jennifer Lopez, Britney, Jessica Simpson, Pink , any these so called divas, could simply put a towel on their head and put there face to mirror and be any where near this amazing to look at as Annie. This not a question of beauty, Annie is clearly interesting to look at.
She is truely an artist, with the subtlest gestures, a turn of the face, a change of eye line, her movements create just as strong a composition.
She becomes a portrait, painterly, bold with the simplest gesture. The lighting is amazing, she knows how to find, hold, almost will it to complete her composition.
Its modest in it understanding of beauty and dynamic, and yet so concentrated it could be construed as artist conceit.
Perhaps that was it intention at the time. But how does it measure to today's artist?

I wanna be her when i grow up

The girls wanna be her ...the boys wanna be her.
I fucking love this lady. I just wanna curl my hair, tighten my dresses, stick out my boob, loves my hips and booty and just fucking be Joan Holloway from Mad Men. She's all curve and no apologies. Definitely not the traditional sex symbol you see these days being idolized. Though she not anywhere near being the good girl she is definitely a positive images of female sexuality on screen. She displays feminine appeal at its most basic and fertile. Once this type of woman was revered, she is like a venus of willendorf you'd like to bang.

Erotic Book Club

I picked up this book from a man living out of his van who selling book on the side of the road on 7ave midtown. Illoved the cover and thought at a glance it was going to be a good option for my erotic book club.
The erotic book club was an idea thought up between my friend Challen and I while drinking PBR at one of our park BBQ. Challen is an avid reader. I am new to my love of reading. BUt i am a long time lover a smut....so we are hoping we can could bring together our respective book clubs book clubs to an Erotic book club. Hopefully with exotic drinks and lots of smut talk. GREAT IDEA CHallen.
From the description on the back it sounded like a possibility but in reading some of the online review, though it sounds like a great read it may be more of a social commentary then the thrusting lusting fest i was hoping for.
At first i mistook it for a Gabriel García Márquez book. The beautiful cover are reminded me much of my copy of Hundred Years of Solitude.

Pet Lady in the Office

Sometimes a 12 hours day in a office is just too much to bare. In my 16yrs of employment i have never fully excepted my place in an office structure.
My current job has definitely tested the boundaries of my ability to maintain a mature workplace behavior.
One of my tricks to maintaining my sanity and not acting out too badly is play a character.Every office has the single cat lady or person whom loves animal just way too much publicly. You know the person with a collage of animal picture they just have to show you....for this job i am gonna be that lady.
i have wall covered in these images and i claim thye are all my pets. my favorite is the rare Aye Aye. That that bat shit crazy looking thing. Interestingly no boys have asked me out on this job?!?!?

YALE 4 ME

http://art.yale.edu/Home

I love Yale Art school web site...it is a Wiki site so any graduate student is welcome to add to the style and content of the site. I have been watching it change daily. What started as mild curiousity into grad programs i could never get into , has become my obsession. Strangely this site has really motivated me into doing what ever it takes to get into this program. I am gonna exploit my every contact for impressive recomendations, i am going to build my resume, get a website of mine own going, get me some grants .....i have to make this happen. if only because i see Yale can have a great sense of humor.

The Fashion Show

Another day another reality show job.My most recent tv gig was working on another Bravo tv show. The Fashion show is a replacement for Project Runway which Bravo lost the tug of war to Lifetime channel. Its seemed like it was really not going to be much different a show then Project Runway .Basically it's not with exception of different hosts and the inclusion of a live audience show that participates in the elimination process.
The audience opinion doesn't seem to count for much . I love Issac Mitzrahi and was so excited to get me meet him and bug him into signing my copy of his Comix book. otherwise it was a jobby job and i am just as interested in watching it as i have been of any other show i have worked on which is not much at all.
You judge for yourself but don't ask me who wins cuz honestly i got no idea. i couldnt even remember the names of the designers when looking at the ads in the subway.

Italian women and Monique

Two things i just fucking love love love. That's my girl Monique and Italian woman.
I love to have the look and beauty of an Italian actress in the late 50's-early 60's. Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida, Anne Magnani, or even todays Asia Argento. Powerful sexuality, raw beauty with a hint of vulnerability. The curves, the loose hair, walk that just doesn't seem to care but always gets your attention. I never really looked to Marilyn Monroe or Betty Page as mentors for vintage beauty. Italian woman had teh real swagger. Sophia Loren could make Monroe burst into tears with just a sideways glance.
Monique is my girl . i love her. I love her at the Apollo, i watched the Parkers, I read her books and give them to my mom.I actually believed she could turn them hoes around on Charm school.
She is in this new movie Precious and i am interested to see her take on this very serious role as an abusive mother to a very vulnerable young girl.
I tried reading the book the film is based , Push by Sapphire. But it is written from the perspective of the near illiterate Precious.

A treasure trove of Delicacies

I really want to be more of a foodie. i mean my general enthusiasm for food and years of mind numbing restaurant experience have given me some education in finer dining and the art of gastronomy. I have had random roommate over the years who love to cook. I mean they love to cook.not just grill up some meat or whip up a batch of satisfying mac and cheese. I mean $50 worth or meat and cheeses to create the perfect lasagna. i have woken up some nights at 1 am to find roommates tempura battering soft shell crabs. I have lazily sat in front of the tv and had turn up the volume because someone is in the kitchen making a variety of savory cheese cakes.
Fortunately i live in NYC where every food in the world cant be found, prepared in every way possibel. I have a grasshopper taco, blood sausage lasagna, and finished them off with a cabernet savignian serbet.
i have little instinct for cooking myself. I can follow a recipe and really enjoy the feeling of preparing a meal for people. but i am single girl and ain't nothing sadder then wrapping left over for a beautifully prepared family meal for one.
But this doesnt stop me from checking out foodie sites .
My new favorite site is
artisanalfoods.com.

Its a site that champion the local food movement and brings affordable fine ingredience to the home cook. I find myself wanting to buy all the samplers even though i am pretty sure avocado oil and fresh saffron would go to waste in my cupboard next to some month old open chips a-hoy cookies.

Red Beer

Did you Know that if you put grenadine and a slice of lime into a Corona...You have yourself one fine red Cream Soda.
MY friend Nicole likes this, a dash of grenadine in her corona. I thought it would be icky too, but ladies its kind of nice. Sweet but nice.
If your feeling kinda of more rough neck then do like my Jamaican boyfriends do...order a shot of rum with your beer. but a good rum and its only there for sipping while you have your beer. Make it last as long as your beer, don't just take it down.

Make Me a Supermodel

My mom called today to talk about a show i PA for . She doesnt seem to understand i take little pride in those jobs and have raely even seen any of the shows i have worked on.
Not even teh good one. I seem to have the same aversion to watching shows i worked on that i have for watching friends movies or projects.
My need for disconnect has grown beyond me. I have really become so ungrateful.if you said 5 yrs ago i would be living in NYC and working TV shows and Fils, not matter how minial i found the work, i would have been grateful and excited by the opprtunity. the adverture and possiblity that i would find in it all.
I think i am becoming a jerk. My humor i growing darker and almost too sharp for those who love me to be near. i gotta get some perspective.
I mean how can i find humor in a day that involved watch skinny bitches dressed in dead fish on a cold day on Coney Island. Thats a fucking rediculous work day. You gota love it

Dustin Yellin

I recently happen past a gallery window as an exhibit was being put up. All i could see from the front window was what seemed like a body suspended in glass being arranged in the far corner of the space.
I thought at first it was some version of sculpture similar to the popular bodies exhibit on the peir.I was equally curious, excited and horrified at the possibility of getting to see people turned inside and put on display for the public.
When the exhibit was open it was the most crowded i ever saw that space in all times i had freelanced in the area. It was like a random interested crowd. Some tourist , many hipsters, and the occasion educated art goer taking extra long to examine and understand the work.
I hadn't realized it at the time but i was getting to see the recent works of artist Dustin Yellin. I had read a small review on him in the recent Vanity Fair and had seen his picture many times before in art and nY social reviews. I only remembered him personally because in photos he often seems like an almost a characature of a NYC artist. A scruff, quirky dress creative type with an absurdly tall and gorgeous woman always adorning his side. It was like a grown up version of everything i couldnt stand about my college art scene.
But i was have to admit i was very intrigued by his work. The "human body" i was so excited to see, was actually wasn't a body at all. Like the rest of his work the peice was comprised of several layers of resin drizzled with paint and layered to create the illusion of a 3-d image. I heard these pieces referred to as resin block drawings. The artist choice pop imagery and organic forms i found a little kitschy, but the determination and effort it would take to plan out these pieces successful was impressive. The forms are entirly convincing, almost hologram like.
These resin block drawings by Dustin Yellin are @ Robert Miller Gallery.

joaquin is quitting acting to become a rapper

So Joaquin phoenix is claiming to be quitting acting so he can focus on a music career in hip hop. so he's been sporting this beard and doing some shituois appearences with his buddies rapping. come on he is totally punking us and no ones really buying it.
he's doing his best to pull an andy kauffman but we're on to it. every where he goes these days he has some buddies filming him.
but let him have his moment...a few months will pass maybe a year or two and then he'll get back to making movies.

Mariza

My mom called me 3 times today to talk about this Fado singer. she even called once just to tell me not to pick up the next cal because she was gonna play some of her music into my voice mail.
when my mother was young she dreamed of being a fado singer. make sense for her, the music is so dramatic and meloncoly, just as she was as a young girl. i am surpirsing her with tickets to a concert in march. they are actually the most i ever paid for a concert. but i don't think my mother has ever been to a concert in her life.
i think it would make her extremely happy and tearful at the same time./ its hard not to be moved by this type of music. for us its close to our upbringing and culture but really the themes of unrequited and lost love are universal.
mariza is one of the world most famous fado singers. my mother told me she thought i look like her...though i love her sound i am not so flattered by that comparison.
