German Food Lesson - Spaetzle
KREUZ FRIEDRICHS: NEW RESTAURANT AT BERGHAIN KANTINE
For Trevor's birthday we had dinner at KREUZ FRIEDRICHS: NEW RESTAURANT AT BERGHAIN KANTINE. The restaurant space is connected to the Berghain & Panoramabar nightclub . The entire space looks a but like if the thunderdome opened a gourmet restaurant with a bar attracted to the back. It's more ply wood then restaurant. There are many spaces like this all over Berlin and you know in a beautiful way I think it wonderful. It is a really strangely impressive use of space and and unpretentious use of materials.
But then again the things that make a nightclub good have the opposite effect in a restaurant. It would seem people getting surly nightclub staff in to run the restaurant could backfire easily. for one when we asked if they had been advertising the place, the waiter assured us they would not be doing that. They will not be advertising them selves, surely the crowd will come to them.

BERLIN
People Smoke everywhere here. No ones dogs are on leases. Weed is decriminalized. Prostitution is legal and government regulated. You can drink bottles of alcohol on the street.
BERLIN
Before I left I read all about this wave of NYC artist that left NY for Berlin. Long time NY artist packed up for Berlin in search of a new New York. Or the NEw York they knew when they were young hopefully artist in a much grittier and affordably inspiring NYC. Disillusioned by the gentrification and obviously priced out that come here to live in the German neighborhoods Iggy and Bowie lived in.
But much like NYC it is not really that same city it was when they lived here back when. It is for sure lost much grit but thats honetly what is fantastic about Berlin. it is a city with grit that doesnt seem like grit. I mean you by far don't grit your teeth the way you would in New York.
The subways have a honor system rarely checked up on. People don't usually push and shove their way through you as they do in NY to get on and off. The trains are on time and not really that intimidating.

MY HERO
MY FRIEND JUST SENT ME THIS LINK...
IT COULDN'T BE ANY MORE WONDERFUL.
French photographer Sacha Goldberger found his 91-year-old Hungarian grandmother Frederika feeling lonely and depressed. To cheer her up, he suggested that they shoot a series of outrageous photographs in unusual costumes, poses, and locations. Grandma reluctantly agreed, but once they got rolling, she couldn't stop smiling.

Bearpit Karaoke in Mauerpark
Berlin’s Mauerpark Flea Market in Prenzlauer Berg.
Mauerpark is a public park in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg district. The name translates to "Wall Park," referring to its status as a former part of the Berlin Wall and its Death Strip. The park is located at the border of Prenzlauer Berg and Gesundbrunnen district of former West Berlin.
Now every Sunday in the park there is a huge flea market. I am not talking just rows of girls selling there old clothes with eh occasional antique furniture guy. I mean the thing is a massive maze of trinkets and clothing, bones, furniture, bikes over piles of bikes, jewelry, that odd guy selling tools you don't recognize and old nazi memorabilia. but for as big as it is I didn't find it anywhere are intimidating a crowd as Brooklyn fleas can be. i mean there were as many people but there was far less commentary about the crowd from people as they pushed and shoved passed you.
I help my friend buy her first bike here which too is a pleasant difference from the Brooklyn Biking experience . But we will talk about that later.
Next to the flea is a the most amazing spectacle of karaoke I have ever seen. it was beautiful. It is really a surreal experience, here thousands of people meet spontaneously, in order to listen and sing karaoke to an enormous outdoor crowd . It's like a wall of people watching you sing.

Talk Shows Are Crazy YO
LazerTits
A friend of mine on Fb sent me a link to this site for inspiration for my pin up paintings. I think they are great and I couldn't even do justice to this images in any other format then just as they are.
It's a funny juxtaposition to me. Lazertits seems to celebrate boobs while make them all the more dangerous.
"For centuries the female bosom has been wrongfully held in the prison of maternal duty and manboy motor-boating. The time has come to blow the cell doors open for breasts! Howl for hooters! "

Question: What do you do you last night in Brooklyn?
Mad Mad Mario
I got this video from my brother. My mom suggested my brother and I make an effort to email and text each other more often to strengthen our relationship. So my brother has been sending me either cute videos of puppies sleep ing or animation like this that i think are hilarious.
It's seems like a odd way to build a relationship but i appreciate the effort and making me laugh is as good way to say you care as anything to me.
jon Ethereridge is responsible for this series of demented animation that show the downfall of classic animated charactors. When i don't know much about him. i looked him up and he website is a lot more professional and business like then i excepted. appsro.com
>It is kind of deceptive because as you scan through it , you get that he is a small business with alot of humor to it. I wish him luck and love his sense of humor.
It doesnt surpirse me he is from Wilmington NC either.

FOR COLORED GIRLS - Trailer
I WORKED ON THIS FILM INTHE ART DEPARTMENT THIS PAST SPRING. THE LANGUAGE IN IT IS MELODRAMATIC BUT POETIC. IT TRIES TO KEEP TRUE TO THE STAGE VERSION WHICH I HAVE NEVER SEEN. I AM PROUD TO HAVE BEEN APART OF THE MAKING ON IT. AS FAR AS BEING ON A TYLER PERRY MOVIE GOES I AM GLAD IT WAS THIS ONE.
Unbranded: Reflections in Black by Corporate America
UNBRANDED is a series of advertising imagery targeted at African-Americans found in magazines from the late 60s to current day which have been digitally manipulated and appropriated by artist Hank Willis Thomas. He has removed all traces of advertising information like logos, headlines and text, which he hopes encourages viewers to recognise that which has become second nature to our experience of life in the modern world.
" I believe that in part, advertising's success rests on its ability to reinforce generalisations around race, gender and ethnicity which can be entertaining, sometimes true, and sometimes horrifying, but which at a core level are a reflection of the way culture views itself or its aspirations" - Hank Willis Thomas

Karoke Dreams IT'S A TIE FOR #1
Prince - Darling Nikki..
I have a good friend Nicole who is always good for a dirty joke and even dirtier dancing. She says when she was young she memorized the dance moves Prince does in Purple Rain performing Darling Nikki. That's an amazing image to me, a little Nikki grinding to VHS tape of Prince.
Once I tried to surprise her with a Karoke performance of it and I realized quickly how difficult a song that is to recreate. I barely got through the the sex noises. She had to jump up and start grinding to save me from myself. Still i have no regrets...
Try A Little Tenderness By Duckie Pretty in Pink
DAMN, I am a sucker for an impromptu dance scenes. I dream of the day I meet my own Ducky. I am even more in love with Otis Redding. There is nothing better in my opinion then some Otis Redding.

Karoke Dreams Song #2 Beth Ditto & The Gossip - Heavy Cross / LIVE on german TV Show
Matchless has a Metal Karoke nigh...Gossip is more puk then anywhere near metal but do you think I could get away with trying to sing this...
I love Beth Ditto. This is one of my hype myself up songs. When i need a little outside help to get out the door this usually does the trick.

Karoke Dreams Song #3 Dolly Parton -- Jolene
I had this song sung in my face about dozen times by drunk older people before I learned this was an actual song. Now i love me some Dolly. In my eyes she can do no wrong. This song could not be anymore not describing me. I am far from the eyes of green fair red headed man stealer.
I find it really moving though. Its a style of song writing that is not too uncommon in country music. Which in my opinion is some of the most clever song writing in the world.
Country music lets loose in a style of very revealing and personal story telling, that is all too easy to mock but none the less very trueful.
Today you hear songs about stealing man , not needing a man, being too hot for man, but here Dolly reveals that wanting desperate and almost all too real insecure side of being in love.

Karoke Dreams Song #4 K D LANG Crying Umplugged
My mom didn't play music a lot in our house but when she did she picked good. Mostly a lot folk music but at the time the most contemporary music she played was more modern country. Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and the lovely lovely K.D.Lang.
What I find the most charming about her is the juxtaposition between her androgynous looks and comeliness of her voice. Like many country singers I love the humor and then heartfelt ness of her song writing. She also has this great song about a "big boned girl" going out the bars that I adore.
